Style Map - Banff, Alberta, Canada XVI
After a few days of adventures, we carried on with somewhere cold and amazing - the Columbia Icefield is the largest ice field in the Rocky Mountains of North America, it is located in the Canadian Rockies astride the Continental Divide along the border of British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, the ice field lies partly in the northwestern tip of Banff National Park and partly in the southern end of Jasper National Park.
And we went for a walk at The Glacier Skywalk, it is an experience like no other: a perfect balance of breathtaking views! We started by taking our time to explore a cliff-edge walkway that is filled with nature-inspired interpretive exhibits. Looked down and we saw hints from life thousands of years ago. Then when we looked up, and we saw the most stunning alpine and glacial vistas! When we looked around, our eye sight reached one of the most unique ecosystems in the world; a place where it’s so hard to survive that adaptation never stops! The grand finale to this experience is a glass-floored observation platform 918 feet (280 metres) over spectacular glacier-formed valleys and rushing waterfalls!
